The height of luxury !

What do you do while lounging in the bath? Slurp a glass of wine by candle light, dip into a box of expensive chocolates while reading a book, or eat rice pudding like me. What a way to spend a Friday morning, ha ha.
To take part in this little indulgence, open a tin of Value rice pudding, price 13p, decant half of it into a coffee mug, and zap in the microwave while the bath is filling up. Then lie back in your Value Baby Bath Bubbles letting the warm water transform your bog standard white bath into a hot tub. Swirling the water around with your hands for effect, and closing your eyes for a few minutes will relax you into a dream like state. Lie back and enjoy, topping up with a little more hot water as your body begins to accustom itself to the temperature.

Then reach for your rice pudding. You will find that you can lie back in the water with the mug on your chest, spooning it into your mouth, without spilling any. Yum, delicious. When you have finished your bath, transfer the remainder of the pud into the mug and store it in the fridge untill you need it. So for seven and a half pence you can have a little bit of luxury in your bath. It's all in the mind, see :o) Do not let the water down the plug hole, such a waste, do as I do and use it to flush the toilet. It will last a week if I am carefull, one jug one flush, but only for weeeee's.
Toodle pip.

  3. Nothing wrong with rice pudding in the bath, Ilona. Just be careful after microwaving it, that it isn't too hot, you don't want burnt boobs. ;-) I sometimes give my son his bowl of cereal when he's in the bath, always starving in the morning and hasn't the patience to wait until he's out and dressed. Enjoying reading your blog when I can. Cheers, Christy x

  4. I prefer my tinned rice pudding cold so wouldn't even need to heat it. But I'm another one who doesn't like to soak in the bath. I just wash and dry as quickly as possible. For me its a chore that has to be done.

  6. I`m afraid, food in the bath is a no-no for me. I`d get indigestion. I soak in piece and quiet, on occasions.

  7. Think you have a spammer above Ilona!

I love my bath, always about 9.30pm with a glass of wine and a book :0) Never tried to eat rice pudding in the bath tho.....

  8. John Rambo is having a bit of a problem?

For half a moment I thought you said to put the rice pudding into the bath! My sleepy eyes betrayed me. The warm sweet rice would certainly be relaxing! I like a Coke with caffeine while I soak. But, due to my knee and shoulder problem, I cannot get out of the sitting position in the tub. I dearly love a long soak in the tub every day.

  9. Tinned rice pud is something we cant get here in the States. They do sell something called KozyShack in the chiller section and although delish is expensive. I miss the generic Ambrosia and eat it every time I am over - I have heard that you can replicate it using a pressure cooker which I dont have. One of the very few things better than home made.
I dont eat in the bath but have a mug of tea and listen to Radio 4 that I can get over the internet. I dont read either - too busy scrubbing away.

  10. Love to lie in a bath and husband will bring me a cuppa more often than not. If I feel self indulgent I might have a glass of wine if I have any in. I do love to read in the bath too but have to be careful not to drop the book in if it's a book I am bothered about.

I don't think I could eat rice pudding in the bath.

  12. Thanks Kate, the spammer has been zapped. I've got quite a collection of them now.

Hi cathy, yes Ambrosia is still around, one of the more expensive brands, I can't afford it, ha ha.

Christy you made me laugh, burnt boobs ha ha. Mine disappear under my armpits when I lie down. Like two fried eggs sliding off the plate :o)

Campfire I would love to have someone wait on me while I am in the bath. Preferably a young body builder with perfect rippling muscles, and an all over tan. Untill I find one of those, I'll have to make do with the plastic back scrubber :o(

  13. Love cold rice pud, not so keen on taking a bath,I'm a shower gal.
Do you remember the episode of Steptoe and Son where the father was eating pickled onions in the bath. He fished around for one he had dropped then ate it. LOL. Sally

  14. Not the keenest on baths either. Our house is so cold at the moment that when you get out it's torture! You are so amazingly frugal! I saw that tip of yours on Superscrimpers the other week! :D

  15. Like Anonymous ^ it brought a Steptoe and Son episode to my mind, but it was the one where Albert was doing all the washing up in the bath. I thought you were going to finish by saying you washed the mug out in the bath water!

  16. I Love bubble baths, but I have never eaten in the tub before. Am a bit of a germaphobe, lol, since it's in the bathroom and all.

  17. I'm not a fan of baths, I prefer a quick shower and then a relax. The thought of festering in my own skin kind of puts me off!
